[KBA-79170] Feature gap between Security Center Web Client and Genetec Web App

The version of Genetec™ Web App included with Security Center 5.12.0.0 does not currently support some access control and reporting features that are available in Security Center Web Client.

Applies to

The version of Genetec Web App included with Security Center 5.12.0.0.

Cause

The following features are not supported:

  • Configuration of access rules
  • Cardholder groups
  • Configuration of credentials
  • Visitor management
  • Report filters

Workaround

Upgrade to the latest version of Genetec Web App to obtain the following features:

  • Configuration of access rules
  • Cardholder groups
  • Configuration of credentials
  • Visitor management

For more information about upgrading, see Updating the Genetec Web App on the TechDoc Hub.

If you require the report filters feature, you must re-enable Security Center Web Client. If you do not require this feature, it is recommended to continue using Genetec Web App.

What you should know
  • Genetec Web App and Security Center Web Client can co-exist on a Security Center system.
  • Genetec Web App and Security Center Web Client can run on the same server and use the same port, but not the same application path.
  • The Web Client Server role and Web App Server role can be active simultaneously.
To re-enable Security Center Web Client:
  1. Open the System task and click the Roles view.
  2. Click Add an entity () and then click Web Client Server.
  3. Follow the instructions in the Creating a role: Web Client Server wizard.

The Web Client Server role is displayed in the entity browser.

  4. Verify that the text in Web Client Server > Properties > General settings > Web address does not match the text in Web App Server > Properties > Basic settings > Application path.
  5. (Optional) Open the Security Center Web Client by clicking Web Client Server > Properties > Communication settings > URL.

Status

Support for report filters will be available in an upcoming release of the Genetec Web App.
