[KBA-01022] “Invalid license” error in Security Center 5.x Server Admin
This article explains why you might receive an Invalid license error when trying to apply a license or modify hardware in Security Center 5.x.
When you try to apply a license or change system hardware in Security Center 5.x, you receive an Invalid license error message in Server Admin.
This issue is usually caused by hardware changes on the server where the license is installed, but can also occur due to other factors.
- Close the Server Admin.
- Back up the License.gconfig file by copying it to
The file is found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Security Center 5.x\ConfigurationFiles on a 64-bit computer, and in C:\Program Files\Genetec Security Center 5.x\ConfigurationFiles on a 32-bit computer.CAUTION:Only modify a .gconfig file if you are sure the changes are valid. Incorrect code in a .gconfig file can cause issues on your system or cause your system to go offline.
- Open the License.gconfig file using Notepad.
- Edit the file so that it only contains the following lines of
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <configuration> <Licensing License="" ValidationKey="" /> </configuration>
- Reset your computer license and activate your Security Center license.
If you encounter any issues during this procedure and need to restore the previous license, copy the backup License.gconfig file back into the ConfigurationFiles installation folder.
