You can give PTZ control to the RSA server user to allow an operator to lock PTZ controls of a camera. This way, users with a lower user level cannot move the PTZ camera, while it is tracking a target. The RSA server user is automatically created during plugin role creation to control PTZ cameras.

What you should know

By default, the RSA Surveillance plugin uses the admin user to control the PTZ behavior on cameras. Because the admin user has full right and the highest priority for PTZ control, no other user can control PTZ when the RSA Surveillance plugin is using it. You can configure the plugin to use the RSA server user instead.
By default, the RSA server user is configured with the lowest user level and has most privileges undefined, except for the following:
  • View live video
  • PTZ motor privileges
  • Lock PTZ
  • Override PTZ locks
  • Perform basic operations
You must manually configure the rest of the user's properties. including PTZ override settings, access rights, additional privileges, and advanced settings.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
  2. Select the Restricted Security Area Surveillance role, and then click the Properties tab.
  3. Click Show advanced settings.
  4. In the PTZ settings section, select RSA server user as the RSA PTZ control user.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click to jump to the RSA server user in the User management task.
  7. Configure the RSA server user, as required.
