[KBA-78981] Axis cameras only streaming in multicast for one video stream

This article explains why you might not be able to stream in multicast with more than one video stream of your Axis camera in Security Center.

Symptoms

You can only stream video in multicast with one video stream from your Axis camera. The following Axis firmware versions are affected by this issue:
  • 8.30.x
  • 8.35.x
  • 8.40.1
  • 8.40.1.1

Cause

A firmware issue.

Workaround

For the one video stream that multicast is working with, keep the connection type as Multicast in Config Tool.

For all other video streams of your Axis camera, change the communication type between the Archiver role and the camera as follows:
  1. In Config Tool, select the Axis camera and click the Video tab.
  2. Select the video stream and make sure the Connection type setting is NOT set to Best available or Multicast.
  3. Click Apply.

Status

This issue is fixed with Axis firmware 8.40.1.2 and later.
NOTE: Axis cameras with firmware version 6.5x.x are not affected.
