You can assign a different importance to messages. When multiple messages are activated on a sign, the number of pages, rank, priority, and whether the message is a custom message, all determine whether it is displayed on the sign.

Message ranks

Ranks are the basic method of prioritizing and grant the least importance to a message.
  • All messages must be given a rank from 1 - 999.
IMPORTANT: The Security Center Digital Signage Management plugin uses NTCIP ranking, where bigger numbers have a higher priority rank and smaller numbers have a lower priority. This is different from Security Center, where smaller numbers have a higher priority, and bigger numbers have a lower priority.
  • Unless a priority or custom message is activated, a sign displays all of its activated messages until it reaches its maximum number of pages. If the number of message pages activated on a sign exceeds the sign's maximum, the sign displays messages with a higher rank.

Priority messages

The priority setting grants more importance to a message than a rank number.

  • If you activate a priority message on a sign with other priority messages activated on it, the sigh only displays the priority message with the highest rank. The only exceptions are custom messages.
  • In a library messages list, priority messages have a icon under the Priority column.
  • In the DMS Dashboard in Security Center, priority messages have a icon.

Custom messages

Custom messages are given more importance than priority messages or message ranks.

  • Custom messages are activated on a sign until they are deleted. You can only have one custom message per sign at a time.
  • Custom messages cannot be assigned a name, rank, or category.
  • Custom messages inherit the display settings of their associated sign, including their color scheme, default colors, justification, and maximum number of pages.

A custom message with the pirority setting has the highest importance a message can have. This message overrides all other messages activated on a sign until its priority status is removed, or the message is deleted.

If you activate a priority message and a custom message on a sign, the sign displays both messages up to its maximum number of pages. If the total number of message pages exceeds the sign's maximum, the sign only displays the custom message.
