Using an event-to-action, you can trigger simple text placeholders to display dynamic information in messages.

Procedure

  1. Open the System task, and click the General settings view.
  2. Click the Actions page, and click Add an item ().
  3. From the When drop-down list in the Event-to-action dialog box, select an event type.
    1. (Optional: ALPR only) If you select License plate read, you can specify a condition for LicensePlateRead events.
  4. (Optional) In the From drop-down list, select the entity that triggers the event.
  5. From the Action drop-down list, select Run a macro.
  6. From the Macro drop-down list, select Simple Text DMS.
  7. In the Context option, click Override, and configure the macro's execution context:
    1. In the Macro's execution context window, in the Placeholder guid field, enter the Placeholder guid string of your simple text placeholder.
    2. Leave the Message text field blank.
NOTE: Until the event-to-action is triggered, the message displays the Default message content, including the Placeholder default content, configured in the message. When the event is triggered, the Placeholder default content is replaced with the license plate read.
    3. Click OK.
  8. In the Effective option, click Always, and select a schedule when this event-to-action is active.
  9. Click Save.
The Save button is only available when all the arguments required by the event-to-action type are specified.
