To display messages on your variable message signs, you must first configure your DMS messages. You can create shared library messages through the Digital Signage Management plugin role, and create private library messages through the DMS entity's configuration.

What you should know

  • A sign can only display shared library messages that fit its dimensions. If a message is too long for the dimensions of a sign, it cannot be activated on the sign.
  • Private library messages inherit the display settings of their associated sign, including their color scheme, default colors, justification, and maximum number of pages.

Procedure

  1. To create a shared library message:
    1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
    2. From the entity tree, select the Digital Signage Management plugin role, and click the Shared library messages tab.
  2. To create a private library message:
    1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Area view task.
    2. From the entity tree, select your DMS entity, and click the Messages tab.

IMPORTANT: The Security Center Digital Signage Management plugin uses NTCIP ranking, where bigger numbers have a higher priority rank and smaller numbers have a lower priority. This is different from Security Center, where smaller numbers have a higher priority, and bigger numbers have a lower priority.
