[KBA-00585] Registry keys backed up from a 64-bit OS using the Omnicast™ Backup Tool do not restore to another 64-bit machine properly
This article explains why registry keys backed up from a 64-bit OS using the Omnicast™ Backup Tool restore to the wrong registry path in another 64-bit OS.
You backed up registry keys from a 64-bit OS using the Omnicast™ Backup Tool. Then you restored the keys on a different machine that is also running a 64-bit OS, but the proper Directory, Gateway, and Archiver configurations are not displayed in the Server Admin.
Registry keys that are backed up using the Omnicast™ Backup Tool always point to the 32-bit registry path (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Genetec), even if the backup was made on a 64-bit OS. Therefore, the registry keys were restored to the wrong path when restored on a 64-bit OS.
- Open the Windows Registry Editor.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Genetec
- Right-click the Genetec key and click Export.
- Provide a name and click Save.
To restore a backed up key to the registry, copy the key to the new server and double-click the key.
