Resetting your password for Server Admin in Security Center

If you forget the Server Admin password in Security Center, you can reset it by clearing the old password and setting a new one.

  1. On the main server, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the ConfigurationFiles folder in one of the following locations:
    • Windows 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Genetec Security Center 5.x\ConfigurationFiles
    • Windows 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Security Center 5.x\ConfigurationFiles

  2. Open GenetecServer.gconfig in Notepad.
  3. Inside <genetecServer, set the <password element as follows:
    <password password="" encrypted="false" />

  4. Save and close the file.
    The old password has been cleared. You can now open Server Admin without a password.
  5. Log on to Server Admin.
  6. In the Connection settings section on the Overview page, click Modify next to the Password field.
  7. In the Change password dialog box, enter a new password as prompted and click Save.
    NOTE: Because the current password is blank, do not specify anything in the Old password field.
  8. Click Save.

The Server Admin password has been reset.
