[KBA-00818] Archive Player does not return results on some cameras in Omnicast™

This article explains why some cameras which have archives might not display results when searching in the Omnicast™ Archive Player.

Symptoms

When searching for video in Archive Player under the Archiver Browser option, the hourglass keeps turning and no results are displayed. This behavior usually occurs after a system upgrade and might affect as little as one camera.

After you encounter this issue, the Archive Player does not return results for any camera in the system until the application is restarted.

Cause

A key in the Windows Registry might not have been imported during the upgrade.

Workaround

Restore the missing registry key as follows:
  1. Enable the GUID feature in Config Tool:
    1. Open Config Tool and select a camera.
    2. Click the Identity tab.
    3. Position the mouse cursor in the Description field and press Ctrl+Shift+R.
    4. A GUID is displayed in the Identity tab.

  2. Search for the camera that caused the issue.
  3. Copy the GUID of the problematic camera to the clipboard by clicking on the button next to the GUID.
  4. Open the Windows Registry Editor.
  5. Navigate to one of the following:
    • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Genetec\OmnicastArchiver4.X\Archivers\{Archiver GUID}\
    • HKLMA\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Genetec\OmnicastArchiver4.X\Archivers\{Archiver GUID}\
  6. Click Edit > Find.
  7. Paste the clipboard content and click the Find Next button.
  8. Ensure the ArchiverGuid value is in the folder where the EncoderGUID value is. If the value is not there, do the following:
    1. Right-click on the right pane.
    2. Click New > String Value.
    3. Name the value ArchiverGuid.
    4. Enter the Archiver GUID value in this key. This value is the name of the parent folder.

  9. Restart the Archiver service.
  10. If your issue persists, perform steps 1 to 9 on all applicable Archiver servers configured for Failover.
