[KBA-00802] Automatic Credential Enrolment Shows as a PIN Code Instead of a Card Number

This article explains why automatic enrolment of a credential is sometimes interpreted as a PIN code instead of a card number.

Summary

26-bit Wiegand strings that have a facility code of "00" are automatically interpreted as a PIN number and not as a card number.

More Information

Security Center is programmed to interpret a facility code of “00” as a PIN by default as it is meant to accommodate PIN-only readers that output in 26-bit format.

26-bit format cards containing “00” as a facility code need to be replaced if they are to be interpreted as cards and not PIN numbers.

If using other programmable "reader" devices, e.g. fingerprint readers, please preset the facility code to a number other than "00" on that unit.
