To prepare your SpotterRF radar system for integration with Security Center, you must make sure that specific settings are configured.

Before you begin

  • Make sure your tracking devices and systems are operating as expected.
  • Make sure your devices and software are compatible with the plugin.
  • Install and configure the RSA Surveillance plugin.

What you should know

This task describes in a general way how SpotterRF needs to be configured for it to communicate with the plugin. The SpotterRF NetworkedIO application must be set up to push data to Security Center using an action script called Push Spotter tracks.json.

For specific details about the configuration of your devices and software, refer to your manufacturer's documentation.

Procedure

  1. Make sure that the radar device is configured in the SpotterRF NetworkedIO application and is operating as expected.
  2. If your organization's network security policies require the IP devices, routers, and switches in your network to block unused ports, then make sure to open the TCP port that the RSA Surveillance plugin and SpotterRF radars use to communicate.
  3. Create an administrator-level user account in the SpotterRF NetworkedIO application for the plugin to use to connect.
  4. (Optional) Create zones in the SpotterRF NetworkedIO application. The plugin will import these zones into Security Center.
  5. In the SpotterRF NetworkedIO application, configure an action:
    1. Create a script by going to Actions in the sidebar, and then selecting the plus sign at the top right of that menu.
    2. In Type, select Script.
    3. In Settings, click the drop-down under Script, and select Push radar tracks.json.
    4. Enter the IP address and port of the Security Center expansion server that runs the RSA Surveillance plugin.
    5. In Path, enter /tracks.
    6. Click Add.
    7. Click Save.
  6. In the SpotterRF NetworkedIO application, configure the action for your zone.
    1. Select the zone option in the sidebar menu, and then select the zone that the action should be added to.
    2. From the Actions list, select the plus sign to add an action.
    3. Under Type, select Push radar tracks.json.
    4. Click Add.
    5. Click Save.
  7. Take note of the following information, which you will need later to configure the plugin.
    • IP address of the server that hosts SpotterRF NetworkedIO.
    • TCP port used to communicate with the plugin.
    • User name and password for the administrator-level user account you created earlier.
