Integrating an AMAG Symmetry access control system in Security Center consists of a series of steps that need to be followed in sequence.

The following table lists the tasks required to integrate an AMAG Symmetry system in Security Center, and then how to verify that integration was successful.

1 Read the release notes to learn about any known issues, limitations, supported software, and other information about this release of the plugin.
2 Learn which AMAG Symmetry devices, entities, events, and alarms can be imported into Security Center. How AMAG Symmetry entities and properties are mapped in Security Center
Deploy and configure your AMAG Symmetry system
3 Make sure that your AMAG Symmetry access control system is operating as required by your organization, and that all of its devices are operating as expected and available in Symmetry SMS.
4 Make sure that your AMAG Symmetry readers and credentials meet the requirements for integration in Security Center. About importing AMAG Symmetry Credentials.
5 Make sure your AMAG Symmetry server runs the required software and API. Product compatibility for the AMAG Symmetry plugin 3.1
6 In Symmetry SMS, define the screen privileges in a user account for the plugin, and enable or disable graphics on door status. Configuring Symmetry SMS
Install the plugin and proxy
7 Verify that the Security Center license has a valid certificate for the AMAG Symmetry plugin, by going to the Config Tool home page, clicking About > Certificates, and confirming that AMAG Symmetry is in the list.
  • The license number is included in the product-release email sent by Genetec Inc. This email also includes links to the plugin download package and other license information.

8 On the AMAG Symmetry server, download the AMAG Symmetry proxy service and the Security Center SDK, and then install both. Downloading and installing the SDK and the AMAG Symmetry proxy service
9 Ensure that the expansion server where the plugin will be installed meets the recommended system requirements and is running a compatible version of Security Center.

Configure the plugin
11 On the expansion server, in Config Tool, create the AMAG Symmetry plugin role. Creating the AMAG Symmetry plugin role
12 From the plugin role, configure the connection settings and choose recipients for alarms. Configuring the AMAG Symmetry plugin role
13 From the plugin role, configure the proxy settings, polling frequency, and door status. Configuring the AMAG Symmetry proxy service
14 Confirm that all of your AMAG Symmetry devices have been imported.

Enable the plugin to import AMAG Symmetry cardholders, visitors, and credentials.

16 In the Monitoring task of Security Desk, add your entities to the Event monitoring list and enable alarm monitoring.

Confirm that the integration works as expected
18 Confirm that you can monitor video from an AMAG Symmetry door in the Monitoring task of Security Desk.

Set up your operator workstations
22 On each Security Center client workstation from which you want to control AMAG Symmetry entities, install the AMAG Symmetry plugin.
NOTE: When the plugin is installed on a server but not your client workstation, the client receives events and alarms from AMAG Symmetry, and users can send native actions to AMAG Symmetry entities, but they do not have the custom actions (manual commands). Downloading and installing the AMAG Symmetry plugin
23 In the Monitoring task of Security Desk, add your AMAG Symmetry entities to the Event monitoring list and enable alarm monitoring.  
24 Confirm that your workstation works as expected. If it does, you have successfully completed the integration. Repeat steps 18 to 21.
