[KBA-00582] "The license key on the Directory is invalid" error in Omnicast™

This article explains why you might get an Omnicast™ error stating your license is invalid.

Symptoms

When applying a license or changing system hardware, you might get the following error:
The license key on the Directory is invalid (error 0x00000202)

Invalid license key

Cause

Changing the network card, motherboard, or operating system on the server.

Workaround

  1. Close the Server Admin.
  2. Open the Windows Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to:
    • 32-bit system: HKLM\Software\Genetec\Genetec Omnicast 4.x
    • 64-bit system: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Genetec\Genetec Omnicast 4.x
  4. Within the Genetec Omnicast 4.x key, delete the two following values (on the right-hand side):
    • Challenge
    • License key (might not be there)
  5. Close the Registry Editor.
  6. Reset your machine license through GTAP or by contacting the Genetec™ Technical Assistance Center.
  7. Open the Server Admin.
  8. Activate your license.
