Importing a Windows public certificate - CCURE 3.5

To decrypt video and other data that is protected using a public certificate, you must import a private key for the certificate on the client computer where the encrypted data and video will be viewed.

1. On the client computer, log on to Windows as an administrator.
2. Open the local certificates store:
   • In Windows 8, Windows Server 2019, and later: Press Windows logo key W+ R, from the Run box, type certlm.msc, and then click OK.
   • In Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and earlier: open MMC and add the Certificates snap-in for the local computer.
3. Under Certificates - Local Computer, open Personal > Certificates.
   
4. Right-click the certificate you want to export, then click All tasks > Import.
   
5. In Certificate Import Wizard, press Next until the File to Import page.
6. On the File to Import page, click Browse.
7. From the Open dialog, select Personal Information Exchange (*.pfx).
   
8. Browse to the .pfx file that you want to import, and then click Next.
9. On the Passwords page:
   1. Enter the password created when the certificate was exported.
   2. If you plan to export this key to another computer in the future, make the key exportable.
   3. Select Include all extended properties, and then click Next.
   
10. On the Certificate Store page:
    1. Select Place all certificates in the following store.
    2. The Certificate store field should show Personal. If not, click Browse and select Personal.
    3. Click Next.
    
11. Click Next, and then click Finish.
