[KBA-01376] REX setting on Edge EVO controller switches to "Unlock door on REX" following a synchronization

This article explains what to do when the REX setting on an HID Edge EVO controller switches to Unlock door on REX after a synchronization.

Symptoms

The REX setting on HID Edge EVO controllers running 2.3.1.603 or 2.3.1.605 changes to Unlock door on REX after synchronizing on systems running Security Center 5.2 SR8 or later versions.

Cause

A coding issue.

Workaround

You can either upgrade your firmware to a later version or perform the following task.

For Security Center 5.5:
  1. On the server hosting the Access Manager role, go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Genetec Security Center 5.5 (default location of file).
  2. Open the VertxConfig.gconfig file. If the file does not exist, you must generate it by doing the following:
    1. Open Server Admin using a web browser, and log on.
    2. From the Servers section on the Overview page, select the Archiver role server.
    3. Next to the server name, click Actions>Console.
    4. Click Commands in the top menu bar.
    5. Expand VertxConfig gconfig commands, and then click Make new VertXConfig.gconfig.
  3. Set the UseVertxApiToRestartTasks parameter to False.
For Security Center 5.2 SR8 - 5.4:
  1. On the server hosting the Access Manager role, go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Genetec Security Center 5.X (default location of file).
  2. Open the VertxConfig.gconfig file. If the file does not exist, you must generate it by doing the following:
    1. On the server hosting the Archiver role, open the Genetec Server Console by typing http://computer:port/Genetec/Console in a web browser. Computer is the IP address of your server, and port is the Web server port specified during Security Center Server installation.
    2. Click Commands in the top menu bar.
    3. In the User Commands tab, expand VertX commands, and then click Make new VertXConfig.gconfig.
  3. Set the UseVertxApiToRestartTasks parameter to False.

Status

Fixed in HID Edge EVO firmware 3.3.1.1168.
