[KBA-01059] “Unknown credential” events on a reader
This article explains why a reader might state that every credential is an Unknown credential, even if the credentials work properly with other readers.
Applies to: Security Center 5.2 - 5.7
A reader in a Security Center generates Unknown credential events when a card or PIN credential is presented to it. The same credentials are read properly when presented to other readers on the system.
- The reader in question has its data wires (D0 and D1) inverted. Reversing them should resolve the issue.
- Some readers add a preset facility code prefix to PIN credential reads, which causes them to be considered different credentials in Security Center. To prevent this, see the third-party documentation for that reader, and information on how to modify the preset facility code.
