[KBA-01424] Unable to automatically log on to Security Desk when opening it from Config Tool

This article explains why Security Desk might fail to connect to the Directory server when launched through Config Tool.

Symptoms

If the client workstation belongs to a different domain than the Directory server, launching Security Desk through Config Tool, using Tools > Security Desk, will fail to establish a connection to the Directory server.

Cause

Security Desk attempts to contact the server by hostname, and is unable to determine the corresponding IP address.

Workaround

To connect, click Cancel on the Logon window and populate the server IP address in the Directory field.

Status

This issue is resolved in Security Center 5.5GA.
