[KBA-00235] How to configure a VertX unit before to enrollment

This article describes the VertX unit configuration that must be set before enrolling that unit in Synergis™ or Security Center.

Summary

VertX controllers are set to DCHP by default. To acquire an IP address in this configuration, the network port must be connected before the unit is powered on.

Accessing a unit web interface requires the assigned IP address or the virtual port IP address (169.254.242.121 is common to all VertX units). The virtual port is always accessible, but it cannot be routed on the network.

In the default configuration, the Admin account can access the unit with no password. You can also use the root account (used for enrollment purposes). The default root passwords are pass or btfsplk.

More Information

After loging on to the unit, perform the following steps to ensure the unit is properly configured for enrollment:

  1. On the Basic Setup page, do the following:
    1. Set the IP address of the controller. If the unit and the server are on different VLANs, set a static IP address for the unit.
    2. Set a password for the Admin user.
    3. Click Save.
  2. If required, use the Advanced Network Setup to set a hostname for the unit. The hostname should be 1- 16 alphanumeric characters long, with no spaces, and no special characters.
  3. Open the System Status page.

This page lets you test an input/ouput, add an unconfigured module, and verify the firmware version.

  4. Verify your inputs. Any icon displayed in red indicates that the associated input is misconfigured or problematic.

To access the icon legend, click the link in the top-right corner.

  5. If required, click Add unconfigured to add any modules (V100, V200, V300) not displayed on this page.
    • The version should be 2.2.7.18
    • The Program/EEprom versions for a V100 should be 113 & 110
    • The Program/EEprom versions for a V200 should be 106 & 105
    • The Program/EEprom versions for a V300 should be 107 & 104
  6. Supplemental configuration
NOTE: Before Synergis™ 1.2, the following supplemental configuration had to be set before enrolling the unit. In 1.2 and later versions, it can be done in Config Tool.

Click the module to configure (V2000 or V100 icon) and wait until you see a dot next to the door behavior section before taking the following steps:

    1. Select the appropriate door behavior for this interface.
    2. In the door monitor section, ensure the minimum open time is greater than 0.
    3. If required, change the default state of an input by swapping the HRUL with the LRUL values and the HRLL with the LRLL values. To configure a supervised input, refer to the following table:
