[KBA-78744] Legacy motion detection might stop working for Axis cameras after upgrading to Security Center 5.6

This article explains why, after upgrading to Security Center 5.6, recording might stop working for Axis cameras that are using legacy motion detection.

Symptoms

Legacy motion detection on video units stops working for Axis cameras that were enrolled in Security Center 5.5 and earlier, and then upgraded to Security Center 5.6 GA -5.6 SR4 CU5 (inclusive).

The affected cameras stop recording video triggered by motion detection events and a black timeline is displayed in the monitoring tile. This issue occurs even if sufficient motion is being detected by the camera.

Cause

A coding defect.

Workaround

In Config Tool, reconnect the affected cameras.

Reconnect

IMPORTANT: After an Archiver restart, this problem might reoccur.

Status

This issue is resolved in Security Center 5.6 SR4 CU6.

If you cannot upgrade to one of these versions immediately, contact GTAC. We have a hotfix available for those covered by the Genetec Advantage plan.
