[KBA-01455] Video units on SV-32 record with an incorrect time zone

This article explains why it is important to update the time zone on the SV-32 before adding video units.

Symptoms

The video exported from a video unit connected to an SV-32 shows an incorrect time zone.

Cause

The video units were added before setting the correct time zone in the SV Control Panel.

Workaround

To resolve this issue and have exported video show the correct time zone, do the following:

  1. Back up the videos that are stored on the video unit.
  2. Delete the video unit from the SV Control Panel.
  3. Set the correct time zone.
  4. Add the video unit again.

After completing these steps, video units will record with the correct time zone.

IMPORTANT: Video that was recorded before correcting the time zone will be exported with the original time zone.

More Information

When configuring a new SV-32 unit, it is important to set the time zone that the system is used in before adding video units. Setting the time zone ensures that cameras record with the correct time zone. If the time zone is set after adding video units, those units will record with the time zone setting that was in effect when they were added. The default time zone for the SV-32 is Eastern Standard Time (EST).
