[KBA-77820] Server used for Directory failover remains offline after upgrading from Security Center 5.3 to 5.5

After upgrading from Security Center 5.3 to 5.5, the server used for Directory failover might appear offline in the Directory Manager and does not reconnect to the main server.

Summary

After the server used for Directory failover has been upgraded, it is supposed to reconnect to the Directory on the main server. Sometimes, however, the secondary server is unable to successfully re-establish a connection to the main server after the upgrade and remains offline. If this happens, the following error message appears in the Event Viewer logs:

77820-1

Workaround

To resolve this issue, do the following:
  1. On the server used for Directory failover, open the Server Admin.
  2. Deactivate the Directory.
  3. Connect to the main server by entering the IP or hostname and password.
  4. The Directory on your secondary server now appears online in the Directory Manager. Apply the new license in the Directory Manager to complete the upgrade. The warning in the Directory Manager disappears after the license is applied.

Status

This issue is resolved in Security Center 5.6.
