[KBA-79000] Video quality settings randomly changing on Hanwha LNV-6071R and Panasonic WV-S2531L cameras

This article explains why the video quality values of H.265, H.264, and MJPEG streams change randomly on Hanwha LNV-6071R and Panasonic WV-S2531L cameras in Security Center 5.8 GA.

Symptoms

Video quality settings randomly change for video streams of Hanwha LNV-6071R and Panasonic WV-S2531L cameras. For example, H.265 codec changes to H.264, and H.264 changes to MJPEG. This issue affects the recording stream, the live stream, or both video streams.

Cause

A coding issue.

Workaround

To prevent the video quality settings from changing on Hanwha LNV-6071R and Panasonic WV-S2531L cameras, do the following:
  1. In Config Tool, select affected camera and click Hardware tab.
  2. In the Codec configuration section, change the codec of each video stream as follows:
    • For H.264 streams, change the codec to MJPEG.
    • For H.265 streams, change the codec to H.264
    • For H.264-2 streams, change the codec to MJPEG-2.
    • For H.265-1 streams, change the codec to H.264-1.
  3. Click the Video tab and select the tab of the video stream.
  4. In the Video quality section, set all options back to their original values.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click the Hardware tab.
  7. In the Codec configuration section, change the codecs of the video streams back.
  8. Click Apply.

This issue is resolved in the next version of Security Center 5.8.
