[KBA-78982] Copy configuration tool not copying settings to some video units

This article explains why you might not be able to copy settings between some Axis, Hanwha, ONVIF, or Panasonic video units using the Copy configuration tool in Security Center.

Applies to: Security Center 5.6 - 5.7

Symptoms

Sometimes you cannot copy the settings from one video unit to another using the Copy configuration tool. This issue occurs with the following drivers and extensions:
  • Axis
  • Hanwha
  • ONVIF
  • Panasonic

Cause

The video unit that you are copying the settings from was added in a previous version of Security Center that did not support H.265 for the unit extension.

When H.265 was introduced for the unit extension in Security Center, the video data format was changed. As a result, you cannot copy the settings from a video unit that was added in an earlier version Security Center to a unit that was added in a Security Center version that supports H.265 for the unit extension.

    • You cannot copy their settings to a unit that was added in Security Center 5.6 SR1 or later.

    • You can copy their settings to an Axis unit that was also added in one of those versions.
    • You cannot copy their settings to an Axis unit that was added in Security Center 5.7 GA or later.
Hanwha 5.6 GA For Hanwha units that were added before Security Center 5.6 GA, you cannot copy their settings to a Hanwha unit that was added in Security Center 5.6 GA or later.
ONVIF 5.6 GA For ONVIF units that were added before Security Center 5.6 GA, you cannot copy their settings to a Hanwha unit that was added in Security Center 5.6 GA or later.
Panasonic 5.6 SR1 For Panasonic units that were added before Security Center 5.6 GA, you cannot copy their settings to a Panasonic unit that was added in Security Center 5.6 SR1 or later.

Workaround

To be able to copy the settings from your video unit in the future, you must delete the unit from Security Center and add it again in a Security Center version that supports H.265 with the unit extension.
