[KBA-79047] Axis cameras showing motion-bars on timeline when motion detection is turned off
This article explains why green motion-bars are shown on the video timeline of Axis cameras in Security Center, even if motion detection is turned off.
Symptoms
In Security Center 5.7 SR4 - 5.7 SR6 CU6, 5.8 GA - 5.8.1.4, 5.9.0.0, 5.9.1.0, or 5.9.2.0, green bars might be shown on the timeline of Axis cameras in Security Desk even though motion detection is turned off in Config Tool. This behavior increases the number of events in the Archiver Database, which fills up the database.
In the Camera events tasks, motion events are also reported for the cameras.
Cause
A coding issue.
Workaround
Perform one of the following workarounds:
- Restart the Archiver role that is hosting the Axis cameras.NOTE: If you have multiple Archiver roles hosting Axis cameras, perform the workaround on each Archiver role.
- From the home page in Config Tool, open the Video task.
- Right-click the Archiver role and click
Wait until the role goes offline.
. - To reactivate the role, right-click the Archiver role and click .
- Change the motion settings of the Axis camera.NOTE: If you have multiple Axis cameras, perform the workaround on each camera.
- From the home page in Config Tool, open the Video task.
- Select the Axis camera and click the Motion detection tab.
- Enable motion detection by turning the Motion detection option ON.
- Set a low Motion on threshold value.
- Wait 30 seconds and then set a high Motion off threshold value.
- Click Apply.
- Wait 30 seconds and then turn the Motion detection option OFF.
- Click Apply.
Status
This issue will be fixed in 5.7 SR6 CU7, 5.8.1.5, and 5.9.3.0.
