[KBA-00850] Live Viewer Terminating Unexpectedly when Viewing a High Number of Cameras
This article explains why the Omnicast Live Viewer can sometimes terminate unexpectedly when viewing a high number of cameras.
When viewing a high number of cameras (typically more than 16 on a multi-screen setup), the memory usage for the Omnicast Live Viewer will increase rapidly. Once the memory usage reaches more than 1 GB, the Live Viewer might terminate unexpectedly.
In version 4.8 GA or 4.8 SR1, the Live Viewer will always reserve the maximum amount of memory for each camera being displayed. The memory usage will then increase rapidly and the Live Viewer will eventually become unstable. At that point, the Live Viewer will more than likely terminate unexpectedly.
Reduce the number of displayed cameras in order to lower the memory usage.
A hotfix is available for Omnicast 4.8 SR1 (HF66865). Please contact Genetec's Technical Assistance Center (GTAC) to obtain a copy.
This issue will be permanently resolved in Omnicast 4.8 SR2.
