You can create a property on a Modbus device by polling a single bit or bit range of a data point.
Create actions to send to Modbus devices.
Before you begin
What you should know
- The Modbus protocol can write to coils and holding registers, as they have read/write access. Discrete inputs and input registers have read-only access.
- You cannot write to a specific bit in a holding register, as the protocol only supports writing to a complete register.
- From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
- Select Modbus device from the entity browser, and click the Properties tab.
In the Data Point section, select a
Coil or Holding register and
click the Write button.
In the Write dialog box, select a value from the
New value list, and click
If the write action is successful, a green check mark appears next to the New value list in the Write dialog box. If it is not successful, a red X appears next to the New value list in the Write dialog box.
