[KBA-00753] Gaps in archived video on Panasonic units due to Transmission lost events in Omnicast™

This article explains why Transmission lost events might be triggered on Panasonic units, resulting in gaps in the archived video in Omnicast™.

Symptoms

When the connection type between a Panasonic unit and the Archiver is configured to multicast, the video stops streaming after approximately 2 minutes. As a result, there are gaps in the archived video during playback. Live video is not affected.

This issue affects older Panasonic units that do not support RTSP.

Cause

There is an issue with the keep-alive for the multicast stream.

Workaround

Change the connection type between the unit and Archiver to Unicast UDP in Config Tool.

Status

Hotfixes are available for Omnicast™ 4.6 SR1 (HF1057) and 4.7 SR1 HIP2 (1035). Contact the Genetec™ Technical Assistance Center to obtain them.

This issue will be fixed in Omnicast™ 4.8 SR1.
