You can run the Synergis™ Periodic Access Solution macro to restrict a group of people from accessing a selected area for a given duration.

Requirements

The following versions of the macro and Security Center are compatible:
Security Center 5.7 SR2 to 5.7 SR6
Synergis Periodic Access Solution Macro 5_7.cs
Security Center 5.8 and later
Synergis Periodic Access Solution Macro.cs

How it works

The macro creates temporary access rules to deny access, based on how you define the following:
Cardholder group
Who is denied access.
Area
Where they are denied access to.
Duration
How long they are denied access.
Partition
Where the access rules are created.

After a cardholder from the selected cardholder group badges and gets an access grant allowing them to enter the area, a temporary access rule is created for that cardholder. This temporary access rule denies the cardholder from entering through all doors in that area.

The temporary access rule is activated when the cardholder badges, and expires after the number of minutes configured in the macro. This allows the cardholder to gain access to the area the first time they badge in, but subsequent attempts to gain entry are denied for the duration of the temporary access rule that was created.

By default, temporary access rules are automatically deleted after seven days. To avoid overloading the system with temporary access rules, you can shorten the retention period for temporary access rules by modifying the Directory.gconfig file.

Limitations

  • The macro only works for the perimeter doors of the selected area. Cardholders can still enter through the captive doors within the selected area.
  • The macro only restricts access for cardholders that are direct members of the selected cardholder group. Cardholders in sub-groups of the selected cardholder group still have access.
  • After the Directory restarts, you must run the macro again. You can do this manually or configure a scheduled task to run on startup. For more information, see Scheduling a task.
  • The temporary access rule must be synchronized to the Synergis™ Cloud Link unit before the cardholder can be denied. This means that it is possible for someone to badge twice during the synchronization. The duration of this synchronization varies depending on the number of cardholders in your system.
