To use a regular Security Center camera as a short-range sensor for intrusion detection, you must first configure the KiwiVision™ positional tracking scenario for this camera.

Before you begin

Ensure that the KiwiVision video analytics plugin is deployed on your system.

What you should know

Video analytics only works with fixed cameras, but also supports PTZ cameras if the later are used as fixed cameras. To use a PTZ camera as a fixed camera, go to the camera's Hardware page and disable the PTZ switch.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Area view task.
  2. Select the camera you want to configure.
  3. Click Video analytics > Security monitoring, then click the Positional tracking scenario.
  4. Turn on the Advanced mode to display additional settings.
    NOTE: When Advanced mode is disabled, the advanced settings you configured are hidden, but remain active.
  5. From the Stream menu, select the stream that you want the analytics to be applied to:
    • Live
    • Remote
    • High resolution
    • Low resolution
    • Recording
    Tip: If your camera uses HD or Full HD for the Live or Recording streams, consider using a different stream for analytics to minimize the load on the KiwiVision video analytics modules.

    Higher resolution streams require significantly more resources. In most cases, VGA resolution is sufficient for video analytics deployments. VGA resolution is always recommended unless there is a specific reason to use a higher resolution.

  6. Configure the perspective for positional tracking.
    NOTE: For this step, you need to have someone on site to help you set up the near and far objects.
  7. Configure the areas where you want the image to be analyzed.
    NOTE: Movement detected inside the analysis area does not necessarily trigger an intrusion alert in your RSA Surveillance system. The movement must also be detected inside an RSA zone.
  8. (Optional) Configure paths to specify the direction of travel that you want to analyze.
    You would need to configure the paths if you want to trigger intrusion alerts only when RSA targets move in a certain direction.
  9. (Optional) Configure how you want the areas to be displayed in Security Desk by enabling or disabling overlays
    These settings are not for RSA Surveillance per se, but are useful for the security operator monitoring alerts on Security Desk.
  10. Click Apply.

After you finish

Add the KiwiVision camera as a tracking system to Security Center.
