Security Center 5.10.0.0 includes the following video enhancements.
General enhancements
- Omnicast™ Cloud storage
- Cloud storage is now available in Security
Center. Use it to upload video recordings from
local Archivers to the cloud, and to stream video archives from the cloud to clients and
federated users connected to the system.
With Cloud storage, you only pay for what you need. You can increase or decrease storage capacity without purchasing additional hardware. Cloud storage provides a clear path towards a hybrid video surveillance architecture. Your operators can quickly search and play back video located on-premises and in a high-performance cloud repository. You can also store video for long periods at a lower cost. This helps you comply with corporate policies and industry regulations efficiently.
The new Cloud storage improves upon and replaces the Cloud Archives plugin.
Cloud storage uses new communication ports for cloud uploads and video playback. For more information, see Firewall ports used by Omnicast™ applications in Security Center.
For more information on Cloud storage, see About Cloud storage.
- New Archive transfer history report
- You can now use the Archive transfer history task to create a report detailing the results of any past archive transfer. From the report, you can see the trigger date, end transfer time, trigger reason, and transfer result of the queried transfer group.
- New Archive transfer sequence imported event
- You can now monitor when a new video sequence is made available for use in the
Archiver through the new Archive transfer sequence imported event. The type of
transfer and the start and end time of the imported sequence is shown in the
description. The possible transfer types are:
- Consolidation
- Duplicate
- Import (for ofline device)
- EdgeTrickling
- Genetec™ Web Player library
- The Genetec™ Web Player is a new library used to display Security Center camera audio and video in any web page. This library is intended for web developers and is designed to be used with Javascript or Typescript code. It is lightweight and easy to integrate in existing web pages because it doesn't depend on any other library or framework.
- Separate installer for camera drivers
- Starting with Security
Center 5.10.0.0, video
device drivers are installed by a separate installer bundled in the full installation
package called Security Center Drivers. This means you can now
upgrade your drivers with Genetec™
Update Service
without having to upgrade Security
Center, as
long as they are compatible with each other.
- Latest Drivers packages will be compatible with all Security Center releases within the same major version.
- It is not recommended to install a Drivers package that is older than the one bundled with Security Center.
- Additional audio action available
- You can now use the Enable camera audio check box, in the Event-to-action screen, to enable audio automatically. When displaying video after an event is triggered, the associated audio is automatically included.
- Support camera commands through Federation™
- You can now use encoder commands for federated cameras. The encoder commands will only be available when federating Security Center 5.10.0.0 or higher.
- New column in hardware inventory report
- A new column in the hardware inventory report displays the Last password change result.
Media Router enhancements
- Separate IP address ranges for local and federated streams
- The Media Router nows uses separate multicast IP address ranges for local streams and
federated streams. This is to overcome a multicast limitation where client applications
can only request multicast streams by IP address from the router, not by port. Therefore, although a client
application listens only on a specific port, all stream sources sharing the same
IP address are sent by the router. If your system uses Federation™, there is a good chance that a federated
camera would be assigned the same IP address, with a different port, as a local
camera. When a client requests a multicast stream from a local camera while a
federated camera assigned to the same IP address is in use, both streams are
sent to the client, although only one is needed.
For more information, see Configuring the Media Router role.
- Different port number for every multicast address
- A new option has been added to the Media Router to increment the port number for every
multicast address. This is to overcome a Windows limitation that puts a cap on the
bandwidth of a single port at around 100 Mbps. By default, the system only increments
the multicast address assigned to every video encoder it discovers, not the port
numbers. If you frequently use multicast, you can now ensure that every multicast
address uses a different port number.
For more information, see Changing multicast ports of cameras.
Unit Assistant Role enhancements
- New Properties tab
- The Unit Assistant Role configuration page now has a Properties tab where you can enable the traceroute feature and configure advanced settings.
- New Traceroute setting
- You can now enable the Traceroute setting to monitor cameras
and provide diagnostic information when there is a camera connection issue with the
Archiver. The results of the diagnostics can be seen from the Camera
events report task.NOTE: Enabling the Traceroute feature might increase the resources taken on the Archiver's system.
- New Password history
- You can now use the Password history button to show when a
unit's password was changed through Security
Center using the Unit Assistant role, what the
previous password was, and what the password was changed to. Operators can use this
information to resolve connectivity issues by retrying old passwords. You can also use
the Recover password button in the Password
history dialog box to retry all previous passwords one after the other. The
Recover password button is only available when the unit has a
connection issue with Security
Center.IMPORTANT: Viewing or exporting privileges are required for this feature.
Media Gateway enhancements
- Network segregation through Media Gateway
- You can now configure more than one Media Gateway role in your system. The purpose of
this enhancement is to let you segregate the accesses to the RTSP and the REST endpoints
to subsets of their network. A common scenario is to have a Media Gateway with only the
REST API available through the DMZ for the Web
Client and Genetec™
Mobile applications, while another Media
Gateway with RTSP and more permissive access is available for internal use only.
Previously, the only way to isolate different Media Gateway usages was to use federated
systems to isolate the different networks, now you can do it within the same system. For more information, see Configuring Media Gateway roles.
To benefit from this enhancement, the configuration of the Mobile Server and Web Server roles has also been changed to let you select to which Media Gateway role they should be paired with to handle their video requests.
- RTSPS support
- We now support RTSP over s secured channel. You can enable it in the Media Gateway - Properties page.
Archives report enhancements
- Source Archiver filter
- You can now filter your query for video from specific Archivers. Use this filter to see if a certain Archiver still has archives for a certain camera, or to display video sequences available from a duplicated archives destination.
- Advanced Display mode settings
- You can now sort your report by origin type and force the display of recording gaps
previously too small to be visible.
- Select One row for all origins to display one row for all origin types.
- Select One row per origin to display individual origin types such as transfer, edge transfer, or edge gaps.
- Select Force display of gaps greater than to display recording gaps by a set amount. This setting can be configured in seconds, minutes, hours, or days.
- New report pane columns
-
- Origin type
- The origin of the file:
- Downloaded from the unit's internal storage
- Files created by the camera, downloaded from it by an Archiver, and currently stored on the Archiver's disk.
- Duplicated from another Archiver
- Files created by an Archiver and transferred to another one.
- On the unit's internal storage
- Files created by the camera and currently stored on it.
- Recorded by the Archiver
- Files created and currently stored by an Archiver.
- Restored from a backup
- Files restored from an offline backup set; that is, a backup file containing archives that were not accessible from Security Center prior to restoring them.
- Recording percentage
- Percentage of available video displayed over the queried time range.
Onvif enhancements
- Support event filtering
- New event filter improves network performance by querying supported events only.
- Motion detection read only mode
- A new option is available to disable motion detection configuration and only allow motion zone configuration on the unit's web page.
- Enhancements for motion zone configuration
- Support for the configuration of a rectangular motion zone. You can now define the size and location of a rectangular zone.
- Support for metadata streaming
- We now support metadata streaming with RTSP over HTTPS.
Bosch enhancements
- Support for Bosch Forensic Search without edge storage
- We can now record Bosch proprietary metadata in the Archiver to allow for the development of a new forensic search plugin leveraging Genetec™ SDK. This feature is independent of the existing Bosch Forensic Search plugin leveraging Bosch VSDK.
Hanwha enhancements
- Support for temperature detection
- We now support the Hanwha Techwin temperature event. This event indicates repeated temperature detection.
- Support for shock detection
- We now support the Hanwha Techwin shock detection event.
- Support for object detection
