To import cardholder and visitor information in Security Desk by scanning their identification document, you must configure the ID Scanner plugin in Security Desk by selecting which fields to extract from the documents, and then mapping those fields to cardholder and visitor fields in Security Center.

Before you begin

  1. Connect an ID scanner to your workstation. For more information, see the documentation that came with your ID scanner.
  2. If you want to map the document fields to custom cardholder or visitor fields, you must first create the custom fields in Config Tool.

Procedure

To configure the ID Scanner plugin:

  1. From the home page in Security Desk, click Options > ID Scanner.

To define custom fields:

  1. Click the Extracted fields tab.
  2. In the Extracted fields pane, select which document fields you want to extract using an ID scanner.
  3. From the Cardholder and Visitor columns in the Custom field association section, select the custom fields in Security Center to which you want to map the additional document fields.

    NOTE: The Email field only works for Emirates ID cards.

To define added scanners:

  1. Click the Scanners tab.
  2. Click Add () to add a scanner.

  3. In the Add scanner window, select the scanner you want to add, and then fill out the associated fields.

  4. (Optional) If you want to parse information that is not handled by the Genetecâ„¢ parser, then complete the IDScan.net license information.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Save.
