Cloud Link Roadrunner™

The enclosure's access control hardware, such as the door position sensors (DPS), card readers, and locks, are connected to the back of the Cloud Link Roadrunner™.

What you should know

If you will not have access to the back of the unit after it is mounted because of the enclosure configuration or mounting location, you can make the wire connections to the terminals, then connect the terminals to the unit. Alternatively, you can complete all of the wiring, then mount the Cloud Link Roadrunner unit.

Procedure

  1. Install the Cloud Link Roadrunner unit on an available panel, c-channel rail, or server rack in the enclosure.
  2. Install wire terminals for the power, DPS, card readers, and locks.
Back of Roadrunner showing the terminals.
  3. You can connect up to two motorized locks. Install the locks in the enclosure doors according to the instructions included with the hardware.
  4. Connect the lock wires to the LK1 and LK2 terminals. Tighten the connections with a flat-head screwdriver.

  5. You can connect up to two door position sensors (DPS). Connect the DPS cables to the DPS1 and DPS2 terminals on the Cloud Link Roadrunner unit.

  6. You can connect up to two card readers. Install the readers on an outside panel of the enclosure according to the instructions included with the hardware.
  7. Connect the reader wires to the RD1 and RD2 terminals and tighten the connections.
    NOTE:
    • The wire colors shown might not match the hardware shipped. Refer the wiring information included with the readers.
    • For this example the card reader is made visible through a cut-out in the enclosure.

  8. Connect a Cat5 network cable from the network switch to the unit's LAN port.

  9. Attach the provided crimpable ground terminal to the unit and run a AWG 10-12 non-insulated wire to a grounding point in the enclosure. The enclosure must be properly earth-grounded.
    NOTE:
    • Install the terminal between the screw head and the washer.
    • Tighten the screw until the washer is compressed.
IMPORTANT: If you are using one of the provided mounting flanges to mount the unit, note that the flat-head machine screws included with the mounting hardware cannot be used with the provided crimpable ground terminal. Ground the unit using a grounding terminal and one of the provided screws (pan-head with integrated washer).

  10. Connect the enclosure's power supply. The unit requires 22-26 Vdc (420mA mean / 724 mA peak)

The unit boots up and the LEDs on the front of the unit display the following:
    Status ()
Orange, then turns green after about a minute, indicating that the software has started.
    Power ()
Green, indicating the unit is receiving 22-26 Vdc.
    Network ()
Green, indicating the unit is connected to the network.

After you finish

  • Protect all cables with cable looms.
  • Secure cables to the unit's cable rack using cable ties.
