The plugin role is yellow and there is an error message displayed in the diagnostic window. The plugin cannot connect to the Morse Watchmans KeyWatcher Touch server.

Cause

Connection issues typically occur when IP addresses or ports are not configured properly, or when the network is blocking packets from being exchanged between two endpoints.

Solution 1: Confirm that the host and port are configured correctly.

  1. In Config Tool, open the plugin role, and click the Properties tab.
  2. Verify that the Host field contains the host name or IP address of the server that hosts KeyWatcher Touch.
  3. Verify that the Port field contains the port number that is configured in KeyWatcher Touch to communicate with Security Center.

Solution 2: Confirm that the server and user credentials are configured correctly.

In the Properties tab, verify that the following credentials are configured properly:
  • The user name and password pair in the KeyWatcher TrueTouch server credentials section.
  • The user name and password pair in the TrueTouch user credentials section.

Solution 3: Confirm that the IP address and Port are available.

  1. Use the Ping command to verify that the IP address of the KeyWatcher Touch server is reachable from the server on which the plugin role is running.
  2. If the IP address is available, but the plugin still cannot communicate with the KeyWatcher Touch server, make sure that the port is not blocked anywhere on your network.

Solution 4: Add a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) host name to the Windows hosts file on the plugin server.

  1. Launch Notepad with the Run as administrator option.
  2. In Notepad, open the hosts file at c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.
  3. Add the server IP address followed by the FQDN to the bottom of the hosts file.
NOTE: Do not add a hashtag to the start of the line.
  4. Save your changes and close the file.
