Installations using the AutoVu™ Mobility Kit do not require holes to be drilled in the vehicle body. Cables run through the interior of the vehicle and can generally be passed between the fold-down rear seats or through the trunk gasket, depending on the cable.

What you should know

  • The following cables are used with the AutoVu™ Mobility Kit:
NOTE: To order additional cables, contact your sales representative.
    • Camera (5 m long)
    • Network (6 m long)
    • Power: hardwired (5 m long)
    • Power: cigarette (3.5 m long)
  • If your patrol fleet already includes the SharpX version of the AutoVu™ Mobility Kit, note that the power cables are not interchangeable. This version of the kit uses SharpZ3 hardware and must use one of the supplied SharpZ3 power cables. Label the power cables accordingly.

If the patrol vehicles already include the SharpX hardwired power cable, install an additional SharpZ3 cable in each vehicle.

Procedure

  1. Run the camera cable:
    • For trunk-mounted cameras, run the cable through the trunk gasket.
    • For roof-mounted cameras, run the cable between the fold-down rear seats and exit through the rear windows using the provided window gasket (cut gasket to fit).
  2. Run the network cable between the fold-down rear seats to the in-vehicle computer.
  3. Supply power to the AutoVu™ Mobility Kit.
    Cigarette lighter cable
For a quick and easy installation in a multi-purpose vehicle, supply power from the vehicle's cigarette lighter using the provided cable.
    Hardwired cable
If the vehicle is regularly used for ALPR patrols, you can install the hardwired power cable that is included with the kit.
NOTE: Your AutoVu™ representative can make the required ignition (green) and power (white and black) connections. More information is available in the SharpZ3 Deployment Guide available on Techdoc Hub.
