Before you can monitor parking occupancy, vehicle density, and people counting metrics, you need to create instrumented areas to regroup your TSS entities and zones.
Before you begin
- Install sensors at all of the physical zone's inbound and outbound access points.
- Create a TSS entity and its associated zones.
Procedure
- From the Config Tool home page, open the Area view task.
-
Click Add an entity ( ), select Instrumented area, and enter a
Name.
Tip: For better search indexing, it is a best practice to include the object type and identification number of the zone.
-
Click the Properties tab and configure your instrumented
area:
- Absolute minimum count
- The minimum number for the capacity value. If the actual capacity value goes below 0, the system displays the value 0, but keeps track of the actual capacity down to this value.
- Maximum capacity
- Number of objects in the area for 100% capacity.
- High occupancy threshold
- Number of objects that triggers high capacity events.
- Absolute maximum count
- The absolute maximum number for the capacity value. If the actual capacity value goes beyond the absolute maximum capacity, the system continues to display this value until the count has returned below it.
- Historical restore age
- If the associated entities were offline for less than the time configured here, the occupancy count keeps the last value. If not, it resets to 0.
- Map display size
- Size of the occupancy meter on the Security Desk map.
- Automatic reset count on schedule
- (Optional) Click and select a schedule. When the schedule is active, the area occupancy resets to 0 at every interval specified here.
-
To use the instrumented area to calculate occupancy, click the
Zones tab and configure the following:
- In the Mode section, select Cumulative.
- In the Inbound zones pane, click and select the TSS zones that act as inbound sensors.
- In the Outbound zones pane, click and select the TSS zones that act as outbound sensors.
-
To use the instrumented area to calculate volume, click the
Zones tab and configure the following:
- In the Mode section, select Reflective.
- In the Inbound zones pane, click and select the TSS zones that act as inbound sensors.
- Click Apply.
-
From the entity tree, right-click the instrumented area and select Put
Online.
Security Center asks for the initial capacity, and then collects counts from all associated zones to update the capacity.
