If an emerging situation does not automatically trigger an incident in your Genetec Mission Control™ system, you can trigger an incident manually.

What you should know

You can trigger incidents from either the dedicated Incident monitoring task or the generic Monitoring task. You can choose from a list of incident types configured by your administrator. In your Security Desk workspace, you will only see the incident you create if you are a configured recipient of that incident type.

Procedure

  1. Do one of the following:
    • From the Incident monitoring task, right-click a location on the map and select Trigger incident.
    • From the Incident monitoring task toolbar, select Trigger incident.

With this method, you must specify the incident location manually.

    • From the Incident monitoring task toolbar, click the Select map list, right-click an area, and select Trigger incident.
    • From the area view of the Monitoring task, right-click an area and select Trigger incident.
    • From the notification tray in the Incident monitoring tasks, click Hot actions () and select incidents to trigger.

With this method, you must specify the incident location manually.

To learn more, see Triggering hot actions in Security Center.

  2. In the Trigger incident dialog box, select the incident type from the list.
  3. In the Comment field, enter a short description.
  4. Click the Location list and select select the area or entity where the incident is occurring.
If you triggered the incident directly from a map or by right-clicking an area or entity, the location is automatically selected. If the map is georeferenced, the coordinates of the point you clicked are automatically attached to the incident.
  5. (Optional) In the Additional fields section, provide additional data related to an incident. This information is visible in the Incident details pane and Incident report.
NOTE: Additional fields are available if they are defined in the Incident Manager role in Config Tool and if they are selected in the Properties tab of the incident in the Incident Configuration task.
  6. Click Trigger.
NOTE: You can perform operations in the Incident monitoring task while multiple Trigger incident dialog boxes are open.

When you close the Incident monitoring task, any open dialog boxes will also be closed.

Results

The incident is created and appears in the list and on the map with the state New.
