To collect and organize information from devices that support BACnet, HTTP Server,
Modbus Client, MQTT Client, OPC Client, SNMP Client, or TCP Server protocols, install the
Industrial
IoT plugin on a Security Center server and on all client
workstations.
Before you begin
Use compatible hardware and software:
What you should know
- Although it is possible to host the plugin role on any server, it is best practice to host
that role on a dedicated expansion server for best system performance.
- For your operators to have access to the
features of this plugin, you must install this plugin on all Security Center client workstations.
Procedure
-
Open the GTAP Product Download page.
-
From the Download Finder list, select your version of Security Center.
-
Search for "Industrial IoT" and download it.
-
Click the downloaded .exe file to unzip it.
By default, the file is unzipped to
C:\Genetec.
-
Close all Genetec™ applications and stop
the Genetec™
Server service.
-
Stop all Genetec™ applications, including
Genetec™
Server, Security
Desk, and Config
Tool.
-
Open the extracted folder, right-click the setup.exe file, and
click Run as administrator.
-
Follow the installation instructions:
-
On the Setup Type page, select Client
or Server:
- Client
- A client installation installs the client portions of all Industrial IoT
protocols on Security
Desk and
Config
Tool. Select client
installation when installing the plugin on workstations and servers other than
the main server.
- Server
- A server installation is the basic initial installation that is required to
run the plugin. It installs the Industrial IoT plugin and the protocols that you
select and any supporting applications, such as RabbitMQ (for Modbus and SNMP)
or BACstac (for BACnet). Select server installation when installing on servers
where you intend to run the plugin role.
-
On the Select programs to install page, select the programs
and protocols to install.
Select the Install Genetec™
Time Series option if you want to monitor live numeric data points in
the Security
Desk dashboard.
IMPORTANT: The Restart Genetec™
Server option is
selected by default. You can clear this option if you do not want to restart the
Genetec™
Server immediately. However,
you must restart the Genetec™
Server to
complete the installation.
-
If RabbitMQ is not configured on your system, enter a username, password, and a
secure connection port on the RabbitMQ Configuration page.
-
If you chose to install Genetec™ Time Series:
- On the Time Series Database Destination Folders page, specify
the folders where PostgreSQL will be installed and where the PostgreSQL data will be kept.
- On the Time Series Database Configuration page, enter the
password and port that will be used to connect to the PostgreSQL service.
- On the Time Series REST API Configuration page, enter the
REST API port.
-
On the Ready to Install the Program page, click
Install.
The installation starts.
-
On the Installation Wizard Completed page,
click Finish.
If you previously selected to restart the Genetec™
Server service, the service restarts
immediately.
