In case of an emergency, operators can override the existing access control rules to
lock or unlock access to floors from the Monitoring task in Security
Desk.
What you should know
Normally, the access rules are applied according to the schedule. The rules are
defined by the
security profile of the
Destination Entry Computer (DEC). During an emergency, you can override
the access rules by applying one of the following parameters to a floor:
- Lock
- Overrides the current access rules and denies cardholders access to the
floor. Only exempted cardholders or cardholder groups can access the floor.
When a floor is locked, the operation mode of a DEC does not change
according to the usual schedule.
- Unlock
- Overrides the current access rules and allows all cardholders free access to
the floor.
Procedure

From the home page in Security
Desk, open the Monitoring task.

To lock a floor, do one of the following:
- Right-click a floor entity in the area view and click .
- Drag a floor entity from the area view to a canvas tile, and then click Lock () in the Otis Compass widget.

To unlock a floor, do one of the following:
- Right-click a floor entity in the area view and click .
- Drag a floor entity from the area view to a canvas tile, and then click
Unlock () in
the Otis Compass widget.
Results
The access control mode of the floor changes, and the
Operation mode changed event is triggered.
