Custom messages are activated on a sign until they are deleted. You can only have one custom message per sign at a time.
What you should know
- Custom messages cannot be assigned a name, rank, or category.
- Custom messages inherit the display settings of their associated sign, including their color scheme, default colors, justification, and maximum number of pages.
Procedure

Open the Edit message window by doing one of the following:
- From the Config Tool home page, open the Area view task. From the entity tree, right-click the DMS entity and select Edit message.
- From the Security Desk home page, open the Monitoring task. From the entity tree, right-click the DMS entity and select Edit message.
- From the Security Desk home page, open the Monitoring task. From the entity tree, drag a DMS entity to a monitoring tile. In the DMS Dashboard, under the Custom message section, click .

Configure your message:
- Alignment
- Select an alignment for the message text
- Text color
- Select a text color for the message
- Background color
- Select a background color for the message.
- Placeholders
- Add dynamic information to a message. For more information, see Placeholders in the Digital Signage Management plugin.
- Priority
- Select if this message should override other messages activated on signs. NOTE: A custom message with the pirority setting has the highest importance a message can have. This message overrides all other messages activated on a sign until its priority status is removed, or the message is deleted. For more information, see Message ranks and priorities in the Digital Signage Management plugin.
- Preview all
- Select for the preview pane to cycle through the message text of all configured pages. If the message only has one page, this selection has no effect.
- Message text
- Enter the message text for each of your message's pages.
- Graphics
- To add a graphic to your message, click , select the image to use and its alignment, then click OK.
- Page on time (tenths)
- Specify a time period during which the pages of a message are displayed. The unit for this value is tenths of a second.
- Page off time (tenths)
- Specify a time period during which no message is displayed. If this value is set to zero, the message is constantly displayed. The unit for this value is tenths of a second.

Click OK.
The custom message is activated on the sign. In Security Desk, the message text is listed on the DMS Dashboard under the Custom message section.

To delete a message, select it and click .
CAUTION:The system does not prompt for confirmation before deleting a message.
