There are three ways to configure the Genetec™ Update Service (GUS). If your client stations do not have access to the Internet, you must configure a proxy.

What you should know

The following installation options are available:
  • No proxy: GUS has direct access to the Internet (Direct Connection)
  • Proxy in the same network: One or more GUS using the proxy to retrieve updates (Proxy)
  • Proxy in a demilitarized zone (DMZ): One or more GUS using the proxy in a DMZ to retrieve updates (Proxy DMZ)
NOTE: In a proxy setup, client machines go through the proxy to check for and download updates. Use the default ports for configuring a proxy. For more information about Ports used in Security Center, see the Security Center Administrator Guide.

Procedure

  1. Log on to GUS.
  2. Click Settings > Download and Internet Proxy.
  3. Click Proxy IP or hostname with alternative addresses ().
  4. Enter the IP address or host name of the proxy machine. If you are entering more than one address, separate them with a comma.
  5. Click Save .
All "Check for update" and "Download" will pass through the proxy.
