Data sharing allows you to collaborate with other AutoVu Cloudrunner™ tenants to share reads and conduct comprehensive investigations.

Partners

A data sharing partner or partner is an entity such as a law enforcement agency or a private organization (such as schools, HOAs, and retail stores) with whom you share ALPR data. The entity type is based on your business profile and is assigned when your tenant has been created. There are two different types of data sharing partners in Cloudrunner:
  • Discoverable: If an entity is readily available to participate in data sharing requests, they can configure the discoverability mode. This mode allows you to be visible when a data sharing request is initiated by another entity.
NOTE: This mode is only available to law enforcement agencies and is enabled by default.
  • Non-discoverable: If an entity is selective about the data sharing requests that they want to participate in, they can establish a request using the sharing key mode. This mode keeps the partner hidden for any entity that searches for them in the drop-down menu.

Data sharing partnership types

Data sharing partnerships can be unidirectional or bidirectional. In a unidirectional sharing setup, you can only share your reads but not receive reads from the partner. In a bidirectional sharing setup, you can share and receive reads from the partners. The following examples illustrate the different data sharing partnerships that are possible in the current release of Cloudrunner:
  • A law enforcement agency can share ALPR data with another law enforcement agency in either one-way or two-way partnership.
  • A private entity can share its ALPR data with local authorities in a one-way partnership.
  • A private entity can share its ALPR data with another private entity in either one-way or two-way partnership.
NOTE: Cloudrunner does not allow law enforcement agencies to send data to private entities.

Data sharing request flow

A data sharing request typically goes through the following workflow:
  1. A private or public entity initiates a data sharing request to share their ALPR reads with another Cloudrunner entity.
  2. All the entities involved are notified through email about a pending request.
  3. The receiving entity processes the data sharing request and either accepts or denies the request.
  4. All the entities are notified if the data sharing request was accepted or rejected.
The following table lists all the possible states for a data sharing request:
State Description
Requested A request is initiated.
Pending The request is yet to be approved or denied.
Denied The request is denied.
Accepted The data sharing partnership is established.
Expired The data sharing request expired.
Canceled The initiating party cancels a pending request.
Revoked The existing data sharing partnership is discontinued.
