You can provide 24 V dc to power the SharpV G3 unit using the supplied I/O connector.

What you should know

  • You can power the SharpV using 24 V dc when PoE++ power is not available. For more information on powering the unit using PoE++, see Network cable requirements for SharpV cameras.
  • Only SharpV G3 hardware versions can be powered using 24 V dc. For more information, see SharpV hardware versions.
  • For the SharpV to function properly, the voltage at the input of the camera must be greater than 21.6 V.
  • The connector used to supply 24 V dc to the unit can also be used to connect the unit's inputs and outputs. For more information, see About SharpV inputs and outputs.
  • To create the connection, you will need wire strippers and a 2 mm flat-head screwdriver.

Procedure

  1. Disassemble the connector into the three parts.
  2. Slide the sealing nut onto the cable.
  3. Select the small or large rubber seal depending on the cable diameter and slide the rubber seal onto the cable.
    Seal Cable diameter
Small 4 mm to 6 mm
Large 6 mm to 8 mm
  4. Slide the connector housing onto the cable.
  5. Remove 30 mm (1.2 in) of cable jacket and 7 mm (0.2 in) of wire jacket.
  6. Insert the wires into the coupling nut terminals and tighten the terminal screws using a 2 mm flat-head screwdriver.
The following pinout diagram corresponds to the SharpV inputs and outputs:
I/O cable assembly pin number SharpV pinout
    Pin #1 Output 1 +
Pin #2 Common negative for both outputs
    Pin #3 Output 2 +
    Pin #4 24 V ground
    Pin #5 Input 1 +
Pin #6 Common negative for both inputs
    Pin #7 Input 2 +
    Pin #8 1.55 A Max @ 24 V dc +/-10%
  7. Slide the connector housing onto the coupling nut and tighten by hand.
  8. Insert the rubber seal until it is flush with the connector housing.
  9. Slide the sealing nut onto the connector housing and tighten by hand.
  10. Align the guides on the connector and the SharpV I/O port.
  11. Tighten the metal ring by hand.
    IMPORTANT:
    • Do not twist the plastic components. Tighten only the metal ring.
    • Do not use a wrench to tighten the metal ring. Tighten by hand.
