To show badge application fields on badges and reports, you must first associate them to cardholder custom fields. You can then reference these custom fields in your badge templates and reports.

Before you begin

  • Define the employee privileges for your airport.
  • Decide which badge application fields you want to show on badges and reports, and create the cardholder custom fields that they can be mapped to. For more information, see Creating custom fields.
Tip: For clarity, we recommend that you group all custom fields created for the Airport Badging Solution under the same group name.

What you should know

An airport badge application field can be an applicant property or an employee privilege that is being requested. An applicant property must be mapped to a cardholder custom field of the same data type, while an employee privilege must be mapped to a Boolean custom field and optionally, an image custom field.

Procedure

To map a badge property:

  1. In the Mapping section, click Add ().
  2. In the Add or edit mapping dialog box, select Property as the Source field type.
  3. Select the Applicant property and the Custom field you want to map, then click OK.
Add or edit mapping: Mapping an applicant property to a custom field.
NOTE: The Applicant property and the Custom field must be of the same data type.
    The applicant properties are:
    • Badge number (Integer)
    • Company name (String)
    • Department (String)
    • Division (String)
    • Middle name (String)

To map a badging privilege:

  1. In the Mapping section, click Add ().
  2. In the Add or edit mapping dialog box, select Privilege as the Source field type.
  3. Select the Privilege and the Custom field you want to map, then click OK.
Add or edit mapping: Mapping an employee privilege to a Boolean custom field and an image custom field.
NOTE: If you want to print the employee privilege on a badge, you must also map an Image custom field. The image custom field is the one you must reference in the badge template. When you print the badge, the image corresponding to this privilege is printed only if the employee has this privilege. For more information, see Designing badge templates.

Results

After you saved your changes in Config Tool, you can reference the airport badging fields in your reports and badge templates by referencing custom fields you mapped.
